How can Select help you?

Individual Psychotherapy

Making the decision to start individual psychotherapy can be daunting. You may be uncertain of what to expect or how it can really help. You may also wonder if it is “worth it” to talk to a therapist? Does it mean that you are “crazy” or “can’t handle” your problems? Perhaps you are facing a major life change? Or, you are have increased anxiety and wonder if your feelings are “normal”? Maybe you have had a major problem and now friends, family, or your supervisor are encouraging you to see a therapist?

Consulting with a trained therapist can be a useful experience. Therapy can help you figure out the best solutions for you. It can also help you to identify areas of improvement. Therapy gives you a designated time that is just for you. With the right approach and mindset, therapy can be a rewarding and life-changing experience.

Testing

Psychological testing can be used to help answer a variety of questions. It can be helpful in identifying diagnoses and guiding treatment plans. Testing is used commonly in children to help diagnose learning, attention, or developmental issues. Additionally, adults may seek testing to help answer questions about problems they may experience in the workplace or in their personal lives. Certain medical procedures (bariatric surgeries, organ transplants) require patients undergo psychological testing. Testing can be used for a lot of reasons. Whatever the reasons, psychological testing can seem scary and intimidating. It is however important to understand that tests are designed to provide solutions. Psychological tests are varied in type and administration. Testing is never “pass/fail.” It is always used as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan to help answer questions that can guide the services and treatment you need.

Corporate Consultation

The world in which we live is complicated. We are witnessing major cultural shifts and are experiencing real-life changes that impact all of us. The workplace is not immune to these changes, as our workplace is made up of individuals. Psychological consultations can be used to address issues in the workplace culture. Consultations can also provide information to employees to help them better recognize problems that can then be addressed on an individual basis. Consultations can also be used to provide education about common problems that may be experienced at the workplace. Psychological consultation is not designed to be a substitute for individual treatment. Rather, it is designed to improve workplace culture and functioning and can assist individual employees in recognizing when a higher level of care may be indicated.
